Cooking Class Details

Hutong Cuisine runs cooking classes every day from Monday to Saturday. Please note, there are no classes on Sundays. In addition to our classes, you can also join our optional market tour before your cooking class.

Market tour: 9:00am - 10:30am, USD 17.5 pp / CNY 120 pp

Our mission is simple: cook, your own,food. our chefs are professionally-certified and restaurant-facing, because cooking is what we do and all we do. If you are looking to get your hands dirty and take Chinese cooking with you for life,our chefs will demonstrate and reiterate every cut and slice. So pick up a wok and cleaver,the kitchen is your's, and so is the hardwork.

Types of Classes:

When learning Chinese cooking, it is important to differentiate btween the three major skillsets:

  • WOK SKILLS CLASSES & STIR-FRY: learn how to cook 4 different dishes. Our chef will demonstrate a relatively quick, easy dish,and the rest will be up to you. From ingredients chopping, meat marinating, sauce preparation, to stir-fry and so on, by the time your dishes are presented,there won't be any leftovers.
  • DOUGH PREPARATION SKILLS CLASSES & FLOUR-BASED DISHES: China wouldn't be Chinese without the myriad flour-based delicacies that are irreplacable in our daily lives. Noodles, dumplings, steamed-buns, and dim-sum are the bread & butter of Chinese cooking, so one must know how to prepare the dough, or else you really don't know Chinese cooking. Depending on which dish you'd like to make, our chef will guide you to make 4 different flavors of fillings, as well as making the dough and the peels. Mix, knead, roll, fold, repeat! Show us how good of hands you've got!
  • KNIFE SKILLS- THE CHINESE CLEAVER (Gratis): Unlike Western culinary practices, Chinese cooking requires only one knife: the Chinese cleaver. Mastery of this versatile blade can take you a long way. Precision-slicing, fine-cutting,heavy-chopping, and even grating/crushing, the Chinese cleaver is truly an all-in-one tool. At the Beijng Cooking School, we value your passion and loyalty to our belief in cooking for execellence. Our chefs will guide you hand-in-hand to master the cleaver with efficiency and safety as a part of all of our classes. Of-course, this one is on the house!

BONUS:Our staff members will be glad to take your picture and/or videos during any phase of your sessions, you are welcome to bring your own camera, or we will use our professional lens instead. We will have them sent to you electronically within days after your session. Ofcourse, this is on the house too!
